Houjie, China -As China reaps in great economic achievements in the past decades, Chinese consumers increasingly have more to spend. The impact of this tendency on furniture industry in China is enormous. Home furnishing products of different styles and different origin, more often, higher value and higher priced are entering households throughout China.

"I am very glad that I decide to produce British Country Style furniture 8 years ago," said happily Mr. Chen from Dongguan Conhot Furniture Co., Ltd. Under the brand name of Asena Village, Mr. Chen has opened over 40 retail stores throughout China. All his furniture pieces are made of solid wood.

Mr. Chen draws the design inspirations from British countryside lifestyle. People who buy his products are often high educated and/or with high incomes. These people pay very much attention to their "high class" living. Chinese people have long ago accepted the concept that the way of living in Britain and America is the way how better-off live. As his products fill in exactly well into their dream houses., he has very good sales in first tier cities like Beijing and Shanghai.

"It is International Famous Furniture Fair (Dongguan) helps me to introduce my products to Chinese consumers," Mr. Chen continued to say. "I didn't open up the 40 retail stores all by myself. Most of the stores are franchised stores. And I met all of the franchisees at the Fair."

International Famous Furniture Fair (Dongguan) is a trade show held by Dongguan Famous Furniture Associations and Hong Kong Furniture Trade Association, two of the most active associations in China. The semi-annual event drives in over 100,000 visitors each edition and a majority of the visitors are furniture retailers in China.

"We notice the trend that Chinese consumers want more furniture pieces of European and American style. As an association, we feel it's our responsibility to bring in more suppliers of these products into the Chinese market,"comments Ms. Fang Hui, the Secretary of Dongguan Famous Furniture Fair.

Working with British Consulate in Guangzhou, a seminar featuring 3 designers from United Kingdom titled "UK 100% Design"  was held during the 23rd 3F held from 16-20 March this year. The seminar was well attended by furniture manufacturers and designers. At this moment, UK Trade Investment is actively promoting UK design in China, working together with Dongguan Famous Furniture Association.

"I strongly believe there will be more and more products of British style furniture showing at my show and flowing to domestic Chinese market. To the Chinese consumers, this is certainly a good thing." Ms. Fang continued to say.
